Story behind the song
It’s 2:20AM. I’m in my studio staring at my keyboard then at my sequencer as I listened to the drumbeat loop. My consciousness moves back and forth from the keyboard to my sequencer on the screen. Besides the drumbeat, it is totally quiet in my environment. Kinda of weird. Gradually my familiar thoughts become strange to me, and the strange thoughts that begin roaming through my head become familiar. Soon, from the ethereal come these eerie sounds. As the sounds get closer I discern them to be “Strange Voices”.

I'm hearing strange voices - help! That can't be good, but it is! Nice mood piece. Great subtle sax. Love that bass, synth and rhythm guitar.

wow this hits ya right between the ears from the beginning! love that pumpin bass! sooo clean man..I love your stuff, it strikes a chord in me..I guess its because Im a child of the eighties and it takes me back to when I was a kid. you are able to capture that sound and add something else to it that is just brilliant. its wonderful!! but you can really feel the love in your music Al, at least I can.. its gushing with it! just pristine.

beautiful track AL!! awesome beat!! and I love all the piano and synth work on this! great choir sounds too! so visual...I've never been to shanghai, but this makes me visualize what it would be like to walk around on a hot summer's night in shanghai...fantastic movement, flows like the finest silk. a very smooth and jazzy piece!!

Wow Al, This is a nice one. There is such a positive vibe in it. I think when you listen in the morning just after coming out of bed, your day will be perfect, full of energy. I hear many Jazz elements in here, the way of playing (your signature) and I like the use of the strong bass, that carries this piece. I enjoyed it very much.

Hi Al! Another "old one" but "new" to listen to for me....! ;) Thanks for putting it to the top!! It is your own signature from begin on, the drum beat is pulsating all over the track like a heart beat, the main melody of the voices FX is so haunting! But fascinating ( my most loved part) is also the "synth-strings" riff like in the intro! Sax, Synth , Guitar (pristine funky-rythmguitar...Telecaster?), as always flawless. A nice and highly qualitative track, concentrating the essence of a great music message in just 3 minutes...!! Bravo!!

Listening now. Ooh. I like this. A lot. A bit of a departure from your usual musical idiom (but then, I haven't heard all of your stuff)? ... Love the keyboard stuff. Cool synth overlay. ... Now I'm hearing some great sax. ... Nice Break ... Back to the underlying theme. Cool guitar stuff. Yeah. This is especially enjoyable. I'm going to put it on my "alternative good stuff" (that I would like to have thought of) station. Of course, I would like to have thought of, and done, all of your music. But I'm just glad that somebody (you) did. Al, this tune is really cool, in my humble opinion. Just one more listen, then must sign off for the night. Ok, maybe one more ...
