Nicely put together, quite a musical journey.

Assuming the lyrics to be as beautiful as the song itself! Ditto on the translations Dropdedman recommends.

both vocalist and omnisine have broken into the torment and sadness implicit in the lyrics. picking lyrics that are unambiguous about their meaning is far better than doing what a begum akhtar does to a ghazal - lending authenticity to the whole piece. the slight distortion during the main alaap heightens the tension of the song, resolving into a renewal of the plea - as if the vocal melody and the more lucid soundtrack were an exterior expression of the interiority of the alaap and distortion mix. the vocal echoes were a little out of place - except when the mora piya is juxtaposed with the echoing alaap, which continues the theme of exterior/interior. the disturbing resolution and the dropped lyrics - ie the open ended song helps in sustaining the atmosphere after the song is done. i'd recommend putting up basic translations of the lyrics as well.
