Ronin Holy Hip Hop Artist Ronin is a child of God born in Paramaribo, Suriname on Feb. 9, 1980. Complications from the womb, helped to create what would be a fighter’s spirit within him. He was not raised in the church, but was thought bible lessons by his grandmother, and these lessons would prove to be the foundation for a ministry he would pick up as an adult. In 1988 at the tender age of 8, Ronin migrated to the United Stated with his father. This began a tumultuous road to adolescence. Ronin did not fit in with others his age due to what was named an “old spirit.” His life at home could be described as dysfunctional at best. His father, a since reformed alcoholic, and mother were involved in an abusive relationship that would last until the age of 12. In his teen years, Ronin began to study different religions and philosophies. Looking for something to believe in, like his father before him, he experimented with alcohol. After watching many of his closest peers ruin their lives due to an alcohol addiction, however, it lost its hold on him. After a lifetime of prophecies declaring alcoholism and abuse would cloud his future, he was asked to humble himself and submit to a higher power. At the age of 21, after 3 years of wrestling with his faith, rap music became an outlet for him. Rapping the gospel was a way for Ronin to reach a demographic that was quickly closing their ears to the message of God. For the past 6 years, Ronin has had the privilege of a loving church family, Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. He has ministered to youths from the Bronx, Newark, Union city, and other parts of New Jersey. Ronin’s ministry is based on the belief that we are all called to be a loving sacrifice. The aim is to provide the message of God in a hip hop industry that has lend itself to violence, hatred, misogyny, and crime. To be an example of love in this world that promotes hate. Story behind the song
I was homeless, living out a of a movie theater. i had just lost my job and separated from my wife and had too much pride to go home to my mother, so as i was looking out of the doors of the theater I saw all kinds of madness going on.
