Babalon is a highly musical rock / industrial / electronic band, focused more on pushing the boundaries of both sound and thought than on fitting into one specific genre. Their style ranges from sweet and melodic, with soaring female vocals and almost classical acoustic guitar, to creeping noise, electronic sampling and an industrial crunch; from jazz and funk infused old school rock to hard hitting, head banging metal and everywhere in between. They’ve even been accused of having a “world” sound, with tabla rhythms and almost Celtic melodic overtones. But despite its eclectic nature, there is a consistent undercurrent to all of Babalon’s music; dark (but never jaded), guardedly optimistic music for the starved human soul. If ever there were a soundtrack for these schizophrenic times, Babalon is it.
