One of my favorites from Benny Golson. Trying to capture the sound of a small jazz club setting. Steve Layman on Piano, Michael Duran on Bass, Drums, & Tenor Sax (guitar synth).

Story behind the song
Benny Golson is a huge jazz influence, In 2006 Bennys' Jazz Quartett performed his great jazz standard on "Ramsey Lewis' Legends of Jazz" for BBC-TV. Steve and I try to recreate the feel of that performance. Steve Layman on Piano, Michael Duran on Bass, Drums, & Tenor Sax (guitar synth).

The story of "Killer Joe" is well known to some .. I won't recount it here, suffice to say ... He was a VERY bad man ..

Cool jazz! You capture the feeling of late night jam in a small jazz club very well. It is swinging and a very nice job on the "saxophone" - sounds very authentic. I enjoyed this!

Think I've heard this one very often in the past. It could be that it was on the television every time a certain show started, but I don't remember exactly. I like this version because it has got such a Jazz Club feeling. It really feels like you are playing only for me. Perhaps all SC listeners are thinking that. Nice performance guys! This one is surely underrated.
Got that small club feel all right. That piano is killer, and the sax had to be tricky - well played!

Great great performance! I like this one really much Michael! Extraordinary (synth)-Sax lead, the feeling of a small Jazz lounge and the intimate atmosphere within is asbolutely well given. Superb piano, grooving drum&bass, a great production for sure, my hat off to you guys!!! Marvelous Jazz piece! :)

Cool jazzy stuff, Michael. Listening, I can close my eyes and picture Frank Sinatra walking up to a microphone. I finally released a Christmas song last night and my Brain song is almost #1. ;) I'm also working on other Xmas tunes.

Unbelievable bright sound. Just like a live-recording of a whole band.
