Hope it goes without saying but I'll say it.. I write Character songs about life, love, loss in culture around us.....and true songs on the love of Jesus Christ
I never knew how poor I was
Back when I was growing up
We always had enough to eat and a warm place to sleep
A little four-room house was filled with love..... and that's what I saw
And I thought that..... We had it all
Most all the clothes I wore to school
Were what my older brothers outgrew
And there might have been a patch here or there but I didn't care
All I knew was how good momma said I looked.....when I had them on
And I thought that.. We had it all
Now I've learned ....there were some things love couldn't buy
Like a fancy house....or luxurious lifestyle
Still I had everything I needed in that childhood that
I still recall
When I thought.......We had it all
A Malibu was the closest thing
I ever got to a limousine
Still...I was proud as I could be .....when Daddy would say "let's trade seats"
And as we drove on through the country side...with the radio on
I thought that..We had it all
Now I've learned ....there were some things love couldn't buy
Like a fancy house....or luxurious lifestyle
Still I wouldn't trade all the treasures on earth for those memories that still hang on
When I thought.......We had it all
When I thought ......We had it all
