Gretchen is a female fronted rock band whose trademark sound mixes elements of rock & goth with strong vocal hooks.
In a few words, Gretchen’s music can be defined as positive, heavy-melodic, happy-gothic, chic-rock. Their performances are as versatile as they are powerful, attacking the stage with heavy guitar, pop-driven melodies and high energy emotions. Even though Gretchen’s sound has been described as a cross between The Benjamin Gate, Evanescence and a heavier edged No Doubt, they have forged a sound all their own, balancing catchy hooks and melodies with heavy guitar tones that give the music teeth without losing it’s radio friendly edge. Gretchen is at home playing with heavy weights like P.O.D. or Chevelle, but retain the ability to gel with more contemporary styled groups. Stationed in Tennessee, Gretchen has been touring the country; making appearances at well known festivals and events like Sonshine and Ichthus as well as being invited to play at the world renowned CBGB’s. Five songs from Gretchen’s first CD "Mouth Full of Nails” have obtained international recognition; “Ordinary Girl”, “Diamonds”, and "Mouth Full of Nails" received honorable mention in Billboard's 12th Annual World Songwriting Contest (rock/alternative category). The song "Star" was used in a Ford Ranger promotion by Ford Motor Company. “Inclined” reached #2 on the world acoustic charts on mp3.com.

Lyrics
(verse 1) They say times are tough and so is he Sometimes it's rough just to be alive They say he never had opportunity To prove his worth or just to be a man So we'll just give him one more chance We'll just give him one more chance We'll just give him one more chance And they say: (chorus) Poor little fellow, they say Poor little man, they say Poor little fellow, they say Poor little man But I don't think so Cause' you've got something, Something you'll never know, OH,OH (verse 2) I remember, a friend of mine, like a brother But you always fell behind Well I grew up and I watched you try I held out my hand time after time But then you kicked me in the face You just kicked me in the face You just kicked me in the face And they say: (chorus) (bridge) Hey Mr. Nothing your calling is waiting But your head's in the clouds and you're fading away Away, Away (solo) (verse 3) I watched you find the truth, then you let it go Then you picked it up Whichever wind that blows You're a Wanna Be of all you see But they laugh at you You're a walking comedy And then you kicked me in the face You just kicked me in the face Go on and kick me in the face And they say
