Definitely one of the newest, and quite possibly the freshest, most unique bands that Calgary Alberta has seen in quite some time..."A Cry of Hounds" is ready to infect your ears, your mind, your heart. This band has successfully captured the sounds of some great 60's garage punk with these songs. Based on 16 b-grade horror flicks with such titles as "Beast of Yucca Flats", "Teenage Zombies" and "Creature From the Haunted Sea", this music will bring a smile to your face and get your whole body grooving to the music! All 16 tunes are now captured on one glorious garage punk rave-up album called GARAGE MONSTERS.

Story behind the song
Well - again - a very, very bad movie in the B-grade horror genre - this one is mercifully short, and there are moments of laughter...I was at a loss as to inspiration for a song...and then this came to me...
Lyrics
On the run from some bad guys armed with guns He ran off into some God-forsaken scrubland known as Yucca Flats Turns out his timing was bad; sometimes things don’t turn out like you plan No one knows why the U.S. government picked that day to test an atomic weapon I guess he didn’t see the signs: “KEEP OUT! Atomic Weapon testing TODAY!” (This was back in the day when fences were out of fashion – The government of the day Relied on the good sense of its good citizens to keep their noses out of things that didn’t concern them – like atomic weapons testing) To make as short story shorter, he was at ground zero when the explosion went off He was exposed to radiation; that sure ain’t no vacation; just bad luck and desperation Chorus: And that’s why….he’s the Beast of Yucca Flats The noted scientist became a partially melted scientist – with a porridge-like complexion, a vacant stare... and a propensity for senseless murder by strangulation or bludgeoning It really is amazing what radiation will do to a man’s notions of things right and wrong You could say his perspective on things became... slightly skewed With senseless murder on his mind – he ain’t got nothing but time on his side So he roams the countryside – who will be the next to die? Don’t let your family go out there – he may catch your kids unaware and then you’ll be sorry That is, unless your kids can outrun a four hundred pound ex-wrestler... Chorus: And that’s why….he’s the Beast of Yucca Flats Road Apples August 2007
