A bit of humorous slap on the hands of the music industry for missing talent, in it's so-called search for talent and good songs.

Country, Country Western, Old Rock, Rock-a-billy, Pop Country, Blue Grasss, a bit of Blues / Jazz and on oaccasion ... a lit'l Pop Rock.
WB and the Western Union was my first country band. Playing for years as a solo or backed by other local bands for years. I put this band together, to hopefully get out some of my country songs, I had piling up. We recorded my first album, in my basement, as I hired one of those locale mobile studios. It was to be just a demo album. But some songs truned out well enough to see air play. the theme of the album was, Thanks Grand Ledge. My hometown, to which I composed an original song for. Most songs on the LP, were from the early 70's. The only new song was the Grand Ledge song, "Good O'le Boy from Grand Ledge MI." It got over 3 months of air play, as well as, "Move Over" "Hard Gamblin Man" Just a thought of you" and "Tribute to Christ Jesus" 5 songs, managed to get air play off our demo. And not one other member had any experience, performing outside their home or for friends. Mel Sharrah-Drums, Barb Morse on Piano, Rick Bellant on Guitar ... and Jake Jocobus on Bass. Not pictured as he joined the band, just days before our recording effort. But a great guy, who didn't mind not being on the cover. The band lasted 4 years ... but disbanded due to my financial problems, trying to get them promoted and local club gigs that didn't pay enough to cover expenses.

Story behind the song
This song was about all the years I spent, trying to get my foot in the door of the professional level of music. a label, even an agent or manager? And all the turndowns and pink slips ... Even submitting my song, only to have my music used for a theme? Given to a think tank, of on-site songwriters, to write a whole new song around my idea, then send it back to me, with a rejection slip ... Not Cool! But years later I composed this song, after getting back from Nashville. After witnessing all the politicing that goes on there? I decided to spoof them as well. After doing this song ... many a DJ, who heard it, wanted to play it on the air. But it put them at odds with the industry to some degree. They said ... If I could only get a name label to put it out? They'd love to play it. As they saw it for what it was? Telling the truth about the industry as a whole. But seriously, what label in their right mind at the time would do that to themselves? Well here it is ... and most anyone in any kind of business, can relate to this subject material ... even if it's not music. It absolutely applies to all types of high profile and pay, venues, but especially to music, as it was music which inspired it's creation. It's my way of standing up for all that's gone wrong in this world? And my way of saying, "Screw ya'll Basta_ds and Shark-Skinned suits!" I'll find another way in ! ! ! And when I do? You'll have lost out on a lot of $$$'s. Cause I won't sell out! Or my favorite phrase ... "I may have to dance with the Devil?" "But I sure ain't gotta marry him!" I wrote that phrase too! It goes with the song! LOL! Oh! And every year older I get? When I sing this song? I use my age, at that time in it ...
Lyrics
I've been pickin guitar seems like darn (damn) near all my life! Started at a tender age of 4! Just turn'd 34 (57) last night And I've played a lot of music! And my friends'll tell ya so ... But I learn'd a lesson throughtout the years ... It's who ya know? Well I've played down in Oklahoma and down around New Orleans. Why I even played some Rock and Roll! Way back, in my younger teens. And I hit all the record comp'neys. And they all but told me so ... When it comes right down to makin big? It's who ya know? (Chorus:) And if you're a guitar picker? And tryin to make it big? It don't matter just hard hard ya worked ... And to me that seem'd a sin? And some advise from this o'le boy ... who's had a chance to get around. It don't matter where ya come from? And it don't matter how ya sound? Well, I picked my way to Nashville. through Texas, and L.A. Why, I even hit, old New York City? But they didn't like the sound, I made. But if you hear this stupid song, some day on the radio? Just remeber ... It's not where I'm from? It's not where I've been? It's not how good I are? It's not who I am? Why, It's not even this pretty face of mine? Tho I hate to gloat ... It's where you're at now! And who ya know!
