Story behind the song
Being an outlaw performer ... thought I'd write one special last run for Waylon. He was going to do it, back in '96, until he took ill again. Project never got off the ground.
Lyrics
1: Well, they say there's no more outlaw's, But that's a sown right lie Cause here I am Guitar in hand and I'm here to testify 2: For all those, who appreciate, I'm gonna set things right. And here I am to make a stand, Cause the Outlaw's still alive CHORUS: And for those who've somehow lost their way or think we've seen our better day This o'le outlaw's here to say, we're alive ... 3: Still talk the talk and walk the walk Still bend them guitar strings Write songs of love and freedom as that's what I love to sing. (spoken): Ahhh Pick it outlaw fingers (Music Lead) 4: Old Waylon and Willie, Bo-cefuss and Chris Me, and all the rest ... We're just good o'le boys and outlaws And we'll die that way, I guess? 5: But even when we're dead and gone the outlaw will survive Cause the soul of outlaw music Will never, ever die ... CHORUS: And for those who've somehow lost their way or think we've seen our better day This o'le outlaw's here to say, we're alive ... Repeat Chorus: And for those who've somehow lost their way or think we've seen our better day This o'le outlaw's here to say, we won't die ... (spoken): That's Right! (spoken): Ya'll don't be sendin flowers, Yet!

This is sooooo great! I love the "Waylon" feel to it! Not that I'm pegging you as a Waylon imitator... not at ALL! I've listened to enough of your songs to know you have a wde range of flavors to your music, that are all your own. I can hear some of the other influences, though, and having worked in Country Radio on the verge of the "young country" movement I am well-versed in old-school ways of the Outlaws who set the stage for others to come along and ride the tide. As such, I cannot help but hear "other singers' stylings incorporated into others' music! I even hear a bit of Lefty & David Allen Coe, pulling at my musical soul1 Thanks for the great songs! Tom

Now this is one of the most original songs that I have heard in a long time. I am not really a C&W fan, but I do love a good western. The bonus here is that the western was sung and I could hear every word. I am an instant fan!
