When I'm Gone From Lafayette County
Shuffle beat and hokey lyrics. Written as an Intro for an independent film guest starring Canadian actor Martin Doyle... being released in Fall '07. The song got some airplay on a local country station. I think I'll stick to instrumentals.
Story behind the song
I wrote the song after reading the script of the same name. After the director heard it, he liked it so much he changed the opening sequence to work better with the song.
Lyrics
When I’m Gone From Lafayette County
Been on the road now, too many days
That yellow line, ain’t breakin’ none
Spent too much time, my time is done
Some down home folks is what I need
I miss that barn dance, on Friday night
No fancy dress, just me in jeans
No fuss, no mess, know what I mean
With heavy heart I think of home
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
That broken stoplight, the fishin’ hole
A million cows, a sight to see
That smell of home is home to me
I’ve been gone for way too long
Met lots of women, but none like you
It kinda hurts, it’s not the same
Just empty skirts, with empty games
I miss you, do you miss me too
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
Bridge
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
They always miss me when I’m gone from Lafayette County
