blues rock cherri violato
Artist picture
A unique mix of barroom bluesrock and soft American rock.
The cultural soil that made the blues great has all been plowed down to sterile ground and eroded away down the long Mississippi. So the challenge for a band like Cherri and the Violators is to reinvent the blues and bring something fresh to the table. Happily, even triumphantly, the band has done just that on an album that manages to be both experimental in its reach while saying something new. The Benzie/Manistee County-based band labels their music "contemporary blues," and you have to hand it to them: they have succeeded in slapping the paddles on the old zombie blues and reviving it as their own personal creation with songwriting that is exceptionally strong.

Story behind the song
Whatever happened to that guy?
Lyrics
Too much sorrow make your heart break Too much work make your body ache Too much worry make you lose you mind Little love will make it better, better for a while. He never failed at anything, because he never tried Kept his dreams inside his head until the day he died. Afraid to step outside the box, afraid of what he’d be Contented himself with mediocrity. Chatted up the women on a blue computer screen Safe in side his little box, never really seen. Making conversation, only small talk every day. Could it be he never had a valid word to say? Bought a little house, and wallpapered it in fear Clung to his possessions, kept his family near Never took a daring step, never broke the ground Now he gone and can you tell he ever was around?
