"firesong" is the songwriting ministry of Dan Simmons Thanks for stopping by. It's my desire to faithfully share that which has been given to me. This website will be a sampling of recordings that I, along with family and friends, have done over past 45 years. There are over 600 original unpublished songs presented in demo form on this site. Special thanks go to my partners in music, my daughter Amber, son Ian and the guys of Single Heart (Gene, Bob, Chris, Marty and Tata) who joined me to sing praises to the Lord down through the years. I'm now featuring AI (Artificial Intelligence) groups that I've developed to sing some of the songs. I hope it's evident to everyone... that though the melodies and harmonies, styles and singers may change... Story behind the song

This maybe my favorite song of all time...because of what it says...plus, it is the  first recording  of myself and my kids, Ian and Amber ...we recorded it and sang it once together in 2001.

This song speaks a real truth. I have fought depression and suicidal thoughts for the past couple of years now, but I am learning that no matter how hopeless my life seems, God always steps in to help me through the hardest parts. I have lost my Dad to a stroke, my wife through divorce, my kids were taken from me and placed with my wife, I am losing my house to forclorsure, and I get letters from lawyers for not paying my bills weekly and I can't file bankruptcy because I can't afford the filing fees or a lawyer. If it wasn't for my mother I would be living on the street. Because of a lack of thinking last year, I have a 3 month old son that I have only seen for 4 hours.  Sometimes when I think it is not worth it anymore something happens that reminds me that I have lost it all EXCEPT God and he is all I need. I pray that some day my life will turn around , but until then I know I am not alone.     nathan m.
