...just a dude making music!
Tom Tucker is a Belgian singer-songwriter and film composer based in Vienna, Austria.
He grew up in the Flemish part of Belgium listening to artists like Neil Young, David Bowie and Tom Waits. At 13 years old he began playing acoustic guitar and writing music that evolved into his own folk rock style. Tom pulls inspiration from artists such as Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie and Damien Rice, which is evident in his emotional, contemplative melodies.
Soon, an introduction to esteemed composer Danny Elfman's movie scores (“Frankenweenie,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas”) opened up a new world for Tom, who was unfamiliar with film scoring. “I absolutely loved what I heard, and I wanted to know how to write music like that,” said Tom.
At the age of 21 Tom already graduated from RITCS 'Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema & Sound' and then moved to Frankfurt/Main collaborating with Eumir Deodato, Mardi Gras.bb, Jerobeam or even Barry White as a well-respected sound engineer/producer. In 2004 Tom moved to Vienna and started to focus on his own musical career. In 2012 Tom recorded and digitally released his debut single “On My Own”. At the same time Tom was to be seen live at the Viennese Ronacher theatre as part of the well-received showcase “An Evening Without Scott Alan” (guitar, vocal and arrangements). His follow-up single “All For You” was released January 2014.
