Greetings musicians and listeners , we are Man At The Window - Scotland's own Reggae writing and production team. Gerry Coogan & Kyle Robertson, both born in Glasgow during the swinging sixties, started working together in 1980 and after a wee hiatus to raise a couple of families of reggae-ites, have recently got together again to write and record the "Revelations" album. Now, having completed the initial demo recordings, we are looking for backing to release this reggae album beyond our independent limitations.

Story behind the song
The inspiration for this song is the nature of authority. The twentieth century proved that it can be catastrophic to surrender one's own responsibility and make a virtue out of following a leader without question. Ultimately everybody must have some guiding principle in his or her life. There are two opposing philosophies about how to frame such principles. One side stresses empirical knowledge derived from what can be proved by experiment or experience. The problem with this knowledge is that it changes whenever a new observation demands a reassessment. (E.g. the world was flat until it was round) The other side believes that an infinite wisdom reveals universal and unalterable truth which finite creatures could not discover unaided. Problems can also arise here when an individual claims a superior understanding of this truth. So in the end, the point of the lyric is to say, yes, there is 'revealed' truth but we must seek it very carefully. Don't take anybody's word for it, it's our own responsibility to look for truth. And, certainly, don't expect to find it in a pop song!
Lyrics
REVELATION Words & Music by Gerry Coogan & Kyle Robertson (The High and the Mighty) The High and the Mighty — they’re heading for a fall. (The Rich and the Wealthy,) Yeah, a man may be wealthy, but he can’t have it all. (Even the winners) yes, they’re victorious now while they’re getting all the breaks. (Some may be righteous) A man may be righteous, but we all make mistakes. So don’t you go with the plan just to follow a man Who may be leading you astray Though he’s standing tall Up on a pedestal His feet are made of clay The truth comes from one source, You can’t defy the force of Revelation. Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation (The greatest deceivers) The greatest deceivers sometimes speak the truth (Every believer) So every believer should look for a proof (Searching for guidance) The pious and saintly man, he can’t shine by his own light (Doctors of Science ) While doctors of science are more often wrong than right. So do you think you will grow if you’re happy to go Where others want to lead? For all his endeavour, no man can ever Give you all you need You must chart your own course, Surrender to the force of Revelation. Mortal man is flesh and blood And all things must pass away Well, today we’re here but tomorrow we’re gone, So be that as it may, I say, Fear no oppression, feel no dismay, Jah know, Revelation guides the way. Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation (Spiritual leaders) Spiritual leaders, you see them lose their own way (Political Speakers) Political Speakers, they got nothing to say, (Celebrity figures) Celebrity figures become addicted to their own fame, (Relative values) Relative values, they make everything the same. It’s so hard to stand on the shifting sand, When your position gets rearranged. Yeah, you feel invincible In your principles Till your circumstances changed, And you climb from your high horse And surrender to the course of Revelation. Intellectual arguments and pointless disputation Well they begin in words and end in words of idle speculation Pay no attention to all they say. Jah Revelation guide the way Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation. Popular heroes, they come and they go Temporal power, it’s all ritual and show Stars in the heavens, illusions and dreams It’s all smoke and mirrors, not what it seems. Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation. Jah Revelation
