"Soulful. Alive. Joyous. Grievous. Real, true, music is what I want to make."
"Ever wonder what it would have been like to listen to a gifted singer/songwriter from Saskatchewan in a small, intimate hall before she became Joni Mitchell? Don't fret the missed opportunity. There's no need to turn back the clock. Check out Allison Crowe..." Robert Reid, The Record (Canada) "Allison Crowe has a voice to fall in love with. She is from Vancouver Island in Canada, descended from Scottish, Irish and Manx stock. She's exactly the sort of artist who can make serious headway on her own label and that's just what she's doing." Record of the Day (UK) "Once famously described as possessing a style akin to 'Elton John meets Edith Piaf', the Canadian singer-songwriter Allison Crowe is renowned for her ability to blend control and melodrama." MOJO (UK) "With the soul of Janis Joplin and the tenderness of fellow Canuck Sarah McLachlan, Crowe rocks with her own unique brand of roots charm." Lyrics
Phoenix Words & Music by Allison Crowe You didn't have to hurt me, you know it wasn't entirely necessary and I'm not sure how much of that you meant and I'm not sure how far it went but that doesn't really matter now I meant every word I said except for one maybe it all just paved the way for what needed to happen anyways and out of the ashes I rise the one who can look up is the one who flies and remember to never look back or down don't crash into the ground and I am not a saint, yeah I get that I've had it explained to me far too many times but I do try, and I like to think that one day I'll get back what I've given and you said that I would never be happy and now that I am I wonder if you'd believe me anyways but that doesn't matter now and to tell the truth I don't care what you think 'cause out of the ashes I rise the one who can look up is the one who flies and remember to never look back or down don't crash into the ground I can't help you now, no I can't stop you so go ahead, crash in to the ground...
