Story behind the song
Together was written in October 2004 just before BVCC piloted "40 Days of Community" with Saddleback Church... We had just merged with a small Chinese Congregation, and Rick preached a sermon series on "Common Ground for Building Community", followed by the "40 Days of Community" campaign. There were (and are) surprisingly few contemporary songs written about Christians working together and living in community. I wrote Together and Unify while preparing for this series. Bow Valley Christian Church strives to be a New Testament Church, and these sermons (and songs) resonate well with our congregation.
