Story behind the song
Based on the Irish tradition of the "Wren Boys", where lads would go hunting for a wren on St. Stephen's day (December 26th). If they caught one of the songbirds, they would parade it around the town, getting little gifts from the townsfolk. Enjoy, and happy holidays! The tune and 1st verse lyrics are traditional, with the 2nd & 3rd verses by Heather Dale (copyright Amphisbaena Music, 2006). Heather Dale: vocals, bells, tin whistle. Ben Deschamps: bodhran drum, doumbek drum, electric bass, electric & acoustic guitars.
Lyrics
