Rickie Lee Tanner Band is a St. Louis based band that loves to have a blast and play rockin country music.
Rickie Lee Tanner Band was formed in mid-2006 by long time friends and band mates Rickie Lee and Jimmy B. The decision was made early on that this time around music would be more rewarding than the monetary gains offered by their previous endeavors. This time writing and showcasing original material would be the true foundation of the band. Writing and performing original material would mean harder work and more dedication than many musicians were willing to take on so the audition process had to be handled with great care. After a few months of auditions and carefully weighing their options the final pieces of the puzzle were put into place. The guys started work on their original material immediately. Releasing their debut single "Highway To Nowhere" in November of 2006. The song found immediate success on Soundclick quickly climbing into the top five surpassing nearly 26,000 songs to get there. Soon "Highway To Nowhere" was being distributed by nearly all of the top online retailers including iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster. The success of their debut single soon gained the attention of Nashville OnStage, a television show based in the country music capital that showcases independent artists and their material. Just one month after the song was released the guys were invited to appear on Nashville OnStage. The show will be broadcast on Cable Channel 19 as well as PAX TV in the Nashville area, reaching as many as three and a half million potential viewers. Rickie Lee Tanner & Powder Keg carry with them years of experience entertaining crowds of all sizes and all walks of life. The shows they put on have to be seen to be believed with energy levels and showmanship to rival many of the top acts in the music business today. I know we've been kinda quiet lately but there's a good reason. We've gone through some personnel changes. We have a new bass player now Kim McKinney! In late 2009, our first Nashville studio album was released! Fast Lane was produced by country music star Rockie Lynne and it includes songs written by Rickie Lee Tanner and Rockie Lynne. In 2011 The Rickie Lee Tanner will be playing numerous fairs in the Midwest and even opening for country star Justin Moore..... Be sure to check out a show near you and keep a listen out for NEW MUSIC and re-recorded versions of some of our fan favorites that will feature our new sound.

Story behind the song
This was one of those songs that started out in first person about a life experience. But I couldn't get much further than the first verse. One day I changed the car to my "dream" car instead of the far more boring Oldsmobile I was driving at the time, and switched the view to third person. At that point, it just clicked and the images flooded my mind like I was watching a music video. After about ten minutes of scribbling on a napkin and humming along the song was born.
Lyrics
Highway To Nowhere Written By: Rickie Lee Tanner He ripped down his rear-view mirror as he tore out of her drive. He didn't want to look back, couldn't stand to see her cry. She'd told him it was over and whispered goodbye He crushed the pedal to the firewall and let that Olds' fly. He hit the highway to nowhere in his '70 442 Running like a bat outta hell with his heart broken in two Didn't know where he was going and man he didn't care He was on a one-way trip down that highway to nowhere Years later she was reading the paper that she got in the mail Thumbing through the classifieds, seen a familiar car for sale. It was a classic Oldsmobile with a broken taillight and no rear-view She wondered if it could possibly be the same one she knew She had to call the number at the bottom of the ad On the other end of the line was Jimmy's Dad Said "I left the car the same way it was found that day, on the side of the road with an empty gas tank." Out on the highway to nowhere they found a '70 442 Right where Jimmy left it the night she broke his heart in two Didn't know where he was going and back then she didn't care She watched him drive off down that highway to nowhere Didn't know where he was going and man he didn't care He was on a one-way trip down that highway to nowhere Yeah he was on a one-way trip down that highway to nowhere
