I began to sing after ending a storied piano career in eighth grade due to untreated wrist injuries resulting from a very hardcore game of capture the flag. I would print out lyrics and sing to myself on the bus to and from school to entertain myself, as I could not afford a CD player. The bus windows were my first audience.
The first time I sang to people was in Tibet while with my tour group composed of various people of different nationalities attending an electrical engineering conference in Yunnan. I sang Frank Sinatra's version of "Fly Me To the Moon."
Since then I've gained a lot of confidence in my singing and have made it a regular hobby. I sing in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. I speak English fluently and well, I've retained some Mandarin Chinese.
