Songwriter/singer. I write Christian music. Some rock, progressive, country, bluegrass and contemporary. I write in other genres as well. Collabs welcome!
Testimony of "How God Births A Songwriter" 5/7/09 The Heart of North Carolina is home to Diane Guy Barnes, an American songwriter. This songwriting comes as quite the surprise as God leads her down unlikely paths, never having aspired to be one. She is amazed at God for doing this!

Story behind the song
This song was a collaborative entry for the CSN Challenge that won 3rd place. Team- Douglas Moore, Rachel van der Hoek, Diane Barnes. This collab came together with the greatest of ease and to me seemed effortless. It was a sheer delight to work with Douglas and Rachel, both in their teens at the writing of this song. Douglas did the lions share for he made the music/ arrangement. Giving him creative control with that, I was more than happy with the outcome. Surely God had His hand in this one and I am thankful He did. This was my 1st CSN-Collaboration Challenge. What an honor for us to have won 3rd. place.
Lyrics
(Douglas Moore, Rachel van der Hoek, Diane Barnes) I Will Lead You V1 You stepped out when you saw Me, Though a storm was all around. The surface that you walked on Felt like solid ground. But then your mind was pulled to The swells that rose and fell. Through all that I have done for you, You ought to be able to tell, That: C1 I will lead you, I will lead, Though your life may not be perfect It might not go your way. I will lead you Though it may be hard to see Me by your side. I will lead you, always, I will lead you. V2 You answered when I called you To set my people free. I showed you signs and wonders For credibility. But even then you doubted And claimed you could not speak. Instead of trusting, you Seemed to forget completely That: C1 Bridge: I can keep you from falling-but pick you up if you do Oh precious child of mine-- Let me lead you (2006)

Great song and an awesome arrangement. Very powerful! I see that some that were here before me didn't care much for the vocals. I have no idea what there talking about because they sound fine to me. They could stand to come forward in the mix a little but other than that the vox sound good to me. Must be a matter of taste I guess.
Good Tune ...I did not care for the vocals that much Loved the Brass ...nice touch
