HARD ROCK BAND THAT BLENDS HEAVY BRITISH AND SOUTHERN ROCK styleS. TOUR DATES INCLUDE GIGS WITH AC/DC, DERRINGER, PAT TRAVERS BAND...AND WERE CONSIDERED AS
AVALANCHE is defined by Webster's as: "an unstoppable natural force"...and this all-original rock band certainly seems to fit that definition...overcoming the odds to produce some of the very best original hard rock anywhere! With an unorthodox strategy for success in 1978 (which included 18 months of intense rehearsals, their own record label, $75,000.00 worth of state-of-the-art stage gear, and a record on over a dozen New England radio stations for three months...all before ever playing a live gig) AVALANCHE's debut show was attended by over 3500 people..and the band was immediately playing to sold-out shows and standing room only crowds wherever they appeared. Within a month after their first gig, AVALANCHE was headlining in large club venues, and shortly after that, the band was opening tour dates and sharing concert stages on AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" tour, as well as with DERRINGER, and THE PAT TRAVERS BAND. They were also considered as a tour opener for TOTO's First U.S. Tour. A tight and well rehearsed rock-n-roll machine...this band did whatever was necessary to bring studio-quality hard rock to the live-concert stage...and they did it without the support of a major record label. Now recording again, with all the surviving members of the original lineup...here is the first new AVALANCHE music in over twenty years...as well as some of their old music too, (most of the recordings have never been available before). AVALANCHE continues to defy the odds with their staying power and persistence...and by remaining "unstoppable"...they are here NOW....for you to sample and enjoy! Story behind the song
INFO ON THE RECORDING OF LITTLE MISS SAD EYES This is the second recorded version of AVALANCHE'S first single. The original single, released on January 24, 1979 on Golden Sun Records, received extensive airplay on thirteen prominent New England radio stations for over twelve weeks before AVALANCHE had ever played a public performance, and by the time that performance took place on July 2, 1979... public response to the band was extremely favorable. Over 3500 people attended the first show. (See picture) This version of "Sad Eyes" was recorded about nine months after the original band had broken up, and was recorded during the Studio Sessions that became "GOING FOR BROKE"....and eventually, COMPLETE AVALANCHE! Although the playing on the original single by the original group was much tighter...and had a different and more cohesive energy...due to nearly eighteen months of intensive rehearsals (six hours a day for six days a week)...THESE guys did a great job...recording this version after only one (1) eight hour rehearsal session. The production quality of the original record, due to inferior studio facilities combined with my inexperience as a producer, resulted in a poor mix; and so this rendition of the song, recorded in a much better studio, is much clearer, and is much more consistent with the sound quality on the rest of the album...and the quality of a live AVALANCHE show. This version represents more closely what the band sounded like on any given night, because Avalanche performed with (4) Custom-modified, Altec-loaded, Vintage JMP Marshall Super Lead 100 Full Stacks...a 1200 Watt Customized Stereo Bass Amp setup (Charles used (2) 18' Scoop Enclosures with (2) Tiel 15" and (2) Tiel 10" speaker enclosures...one of each size, on each side of the drum riser). Avalanche also carried it's own State-Of-The-Art Sound System ...with 6000 watts of Yamaha 2200 Stereo Power Amps driving (4) JBL 18" "W" Bins... (14) JBL CONCERT 5460 Speaker Cabinet Enclosures... (6)JBL 2350 Horns with 2482 Drivers...and (4) JBL 2492 Ultra-High Frequency Horns... creating a true 4-Way system...and with a 24x4 YAMAHA Recording Board (with the entire system wired to "true stereo") controlling that PA System...complete with state-of-the art Eventide Clockworks Digital Delay Line (Harmonizer 1500) and an Eventide Clockworks INSTANT FLANGER... along with Sennheiser MD421 and MD431 and EV RE-20 and SONY Condenser (overhead) microphones...all of which were part of every single AVALANCHE performance ...consistency and record-quality live mixes were always what audiences heard at an AVALANCHE show...regardless of the venue. LITTLE MISS SAD EYES Written by: Michael Foster Music: November, 1977 Lyrics: June, 1978 Copyright 1979, 2005 by Crystal Magic Music (ASCAP) 1st Verse Little Miss Sad Eyes...I'm trying to get through... But you just don't hear me...you feel so sad and blue. Love had your number...love knew your name... Now you're feeling bruised at the end of the game... Why don't you STOP! Why don't you open your eyes? 1st Chorus You can do anything you want to do... The only thing that's stopping you... is you. It isn't fair that you should change for me... I love you baby, but I need to be free... 2nd Verse Why don't you STOP! Why don't you open your eyes? Well you should know me by now, girl...I ain't telling you lies! 'Cause I'm a rock 'n roll crazy... in a rock n roll band... It's hard to keep together...I do the best that I can... But I can't stop! 'Cause I've been going too long... 2nd Chorus 'Cause I've got too much to say and I've got too much to do... To give it all up to sit home with you. I'll give you my love, and I'll share what is mine... But I can't always give you all of my time. Bridge I need your love...I need your friendship... I need your trust in me... I need my freedom....in order to survive... I need to be myself...to keep my love alive. 3rd Verse Why dont you STOP! Why don't you stop and wipe the tears from your eyes? Because tomorrow's a new day... And don't you know that time flies... Don't get mad...don't turn your back on me... Just because I can't be what you want me to be... I need my freedom...to keep my love alive. Repeat 1st Chorus GUITAR SOLO REPEAT THIRD VERSE I said I just can't stop, baby....I said I just can't stop! END

I can't believe I missed listening to this much sooner. It's an outstanding production and show cases the Avalanche style and instrumental and vocal strengths. I'm really digg'n the whole feel and sound, the rhythm and beat and the vocal style. It takes me back to the early 70s rock. It's like Grand Funk Railroad melded with Boston - a great sound that I think is ageless. WHen all is stripped away in any of the decades of Rock this sound I think remains a main stay of rock. Exellent job by the whole band and an excellent job on the song writting and arrangment by Mike Foster.

This tune really reminds me of vocals like Boston and guitar work like Uncle Ted (Nugent)... Great job fellas...
