This is the rough demo I made on my computer. The song is an expression of my sorrow and anger over this manufactured war that has served no purpose other than to enrich the pockets of the war profiteers, and has left so many greiving families.

I'm primarily a songwriter, A member of BMI for many years. I have a deep love for traditional country music and songs with lyrics that make sense and have beautiful melodies and words that move the emotions. I have been writing since 1986 when I visited Hawaii and fell in love with the beauty of the islands. I came home and wrote my first song which I called "Isle of Endless Summer". The bug bit me very hard and I have been writing ever since. I have had a couple of Indie Record cuts but I'm always looking for more. I hope you'll like my songs.

Story behind the song
This song is an expression of my sorrow and anger for the many young lives that have been lost in this needless "manufactured" war that has served no purpose other than enriching the pockets of the war profiteers.
Lyrics
THE BALLAD OF THE ROSES © 2006 Val Zudell Dedicated to all the widows and families of our fallen soldiers We had a simple wedding in the springtime By fall there was a baby on the way Each time he brought a big bouquet of roses And let them speak for words he couldn't say The orders telling him "Report for duty" Arrived upon a cold December morn We cried together, as he left us knowing He couldn't stay to see his child be born So he went off to war with flags a flying Believing in a cause worth fighting for In innocence he never dreamed their lying Was camouflaging greed and lust for war I wonder if they understand the heartache Or care about the cost of all he gave Now I'm the one who's bringing him the roses And crying as I lay them on his grave

You know the lies of those that were in power when they started that war that neednt have been started to use American Patriotism to go into Iraq, is a sin that rests upon their heads. But I doubt they really care much. At least Lyndon Johnson during the Vietnam war couldnt bear to run anotehr term, and stepped aside knowing blood was being spilt needlessly. Iraq is very much the same. Lifes being given for The masters of War and the oil kings.
