A song for our little beach towns in Southern California, once filled with strawberry and flower fields. A bit like CSN with 3 and 4 part harmonies. #2 in Soundclick.

Pop Songs like the 60's. Take some Endless Summer guitars, add a little Brian Wilson melody and production, throw in some influence from The Monkees, The Assoc
Who is this GNG guy and where did he come from? Well, GNG is actually me, Gary Ng. I grew up listening to the great rock and pop songs of the 60's. As a kid I was never without a transistor radio to my ear. But then came disco in the 70's, techno in the 80's, rap in the 90's, and enough was enough! After threatening that I could write songs better than what was on the radio, I started writing - and recording - on my home PC. I play all instruments, and sing all the vocals. The rest, as they say, is history. Listen to his songs and you'll hear a bit of the Beatles, a bit of the Beach Boys, and a lot of 60's influence. Melodies, harmonies, and guitars. What more could you want?

Story behind the song
Written in 15 minutes one morning, the entire song and lyrics fell into place as I recorded it the following day. Features 2 acoustic guitars, bass, harmonica (had to learn to play it!), congas and percussion, and 8 tracks of vocals.
Lyrics
I CAN’T LEAVE THIS TOWN V1 Packed up all my bags Let’s go It’s been a long time coming I can’t take it anymore The people and the traffic jams I can’t believe I ever called this place home V2 The town is so much different now It seems that everywhere you look You find another tract house Does progress have to be so cruel Why can’t they leave this little town alone? PRE CHORUS But when I hear that train a coming Down by Highway 101 The ocean singing in harmony It reaches in my soul And it won’t let go CHORUS And I can’t leave this town No, I can’t leave this town It’s not the way it used to be But I’m a part of it And maybe it’s a part of me This town will never know Why I have to go V3 Maybe in another day They will forget about this town And let it go its own way Then people will remember when There were flowers growing everywhere FINAL PRE CHORUS And then they’ll hear that train a coming Down by Highway 101 The ocean singing in harmony Some things will never change But will enough remain? FINAL CHORUS And I can’t leave this town No I, can’t leave this town It’s not the way it used to be But I’m a part of it And maybe it’s a part of me This town will never know Why I had to go

wow Gary! Sounds like America meets Brian Wilson-another soulful, heart tugging song. Great job.
