One Arm Man
(c) May 2006, Rebecca Dale Peaden (BMI)/Marchetti
he drove a pulpwood truck as a logger
followed in the footsteps of his father
at night he sold fresh kindling from his truck
an easy way to make some extra bucks
after working in the heat all saturday
he was driving down the dark parkway
taking his last load and popping a few tops
saw an old man crossing, but he couldn't stop
chorus:
who's that one arm man?
standing by my bed
ain't that old man dead?
it's been fourty years
so what's that old man doing here?
he figured the old man'ud soon be gone
blood everywhere - no way he could hang on
so he dumped him in the Okefenokee that day
cause jail was a price he didn't wanta' pay
chorus:
who's that one arm man?
standing by my bed
ain't that old man dead?
it's been fourty years
so what's that old man doing here?
noone ever found out about his sin
it dissappeared as if it had never been
but in his last days dying from cancer
he asked questions noone could answer
chorus: 2x
who's that one-arm man?
standing by my bed
ain't that old man dead?
it's been fourty years
so what's that old man doing here?
