Zacheous Jackson was born in London, June 15th under Twelve Tribe sign of Levi and is of Jamaican Heritage. Zacheous was just 15-years old when his mother took him home to Jamaica to spend time with his family in Kingston, Darliston, Mobay and the beautiful Negril(Westmoreland), Red Ground area home to powdery white beaches and warm seas.. It was here he discovered the reggae music, which is the heartbeat of the island. "Due to my heritage", Jamaica has been instrumental in my upbringing and consciousness and I am a regular visitor... Influenced by Jamaican greats, Peter Tosh Bob Marley, Jacob Miller, Cornel Campbell, Hugh Mundell, Madoo, Horace Andy, Barry Brown, Wayne Wonder, Lacksley Castell, Mutabaruka, Michael Rose, Ini Komozi, Garnett Silk, Inner Circle and Tony Rebel. Zacheous started playing and writing music in 1988, recording a protest song against knife crime, a theme he returns to on his current CD. " Too Much A Wi" The song is a protest against all the knife and gun killing that is happening within the Black Community around the world because it is getting out of control. There are two versions to the track, one is a roots cut and the other a roots/dancehall ‘lick over’. (The riddims are called the "Negril and Red Ground Riddims") Both are original sound recordings created by Zacheous Jackson, and are named after some of the areas in Jamaica from which some of Zacheous's family originate. “The first band I ever saw live was Fab 5 in Kingston (National Stadium) at Carifesta so many years ago, and attended a Jimmy Cliff return to Kingston concert at Carib theatre. First sound system ever listen to live was Gemini at Skateland. Also met King Yellowman at El Mundo Club Buff Bay St Thomas Jamaica, just up the road from where I use to live with my mum and brother while I was in Jamaica. On his return to London after another extended trip back to Jamaica,Zacheous obtained a Diploma in Electronics and built his sound system Amps, speaker boxes himself(set as they say in Jamaica)the set was called Alpha Tone Disco and played mainly house/birthday parties, weddings, christenings and the occasional hall sound clash using dubplates against other friend's set, which was all part of the learning curve. Zacheous’s latest track entitled ‘Garvey Garvey’ is a tribute to Jamaican national hero and UNIA visionary Marcus Mosiah Garvey and the conspiracy against him. Zacheous has also reached the top 20 charts in Italy with DJ Gusma T’s radio broadcast with the track ’Conspiracy’ which is the ‘B Side’ to ‘Garvey Garvey’ holding steady at position 16 beating out(at the time)big name artist’s. Zacheous has been featured in the Voice newspaper and other UK local publications. He has also recorded and recording tracks for other producers and other talented musicians from the Versionists.com camp.'I have just wrote lyrics and recorded vocals for a Polish Reggae outfit called Muflon Dub the track is called 'Wicked Babylon'. Look out for more collaborations with others from the versionist's camp, plus other singers that have invited me to record with them. Zacheous is also featured as a rising star on Caribbean Vibes radio(CVR) from out of Texas(USA) .“ I compose and write my own music and lyrics eena mi yard wen di vibes lick mi. I play by ear and voice my tracks at a professional studio. I am a conscious smady that deals strictly with conscious lyrics that feed the mind and uplift the yute. The yute are the future and they need to be educated the right way”,( Zacheous has been in the studio working on an album) “I have no time for non sensical and violent/idiot lyrics or lyrics based on ego and promotion of self! I man deal with strictly conscious positive and upliftment lyrics”. Zacheous has recorded jingles for various radio stations in different countries. Watch da space ya! The ‘Conscious Man’ has arrived . Bless!
