Often true about the spouse, I think. We can either be 'happy or right'.

Lyrics
Well, I never learned this lesson when I was a kid My mom and dad got along just fine But what my dad said went It was a marriage made in heaven back in 1953 But a generation later, it’s done quite differently So I’ve learned as I’ve grown older Through the women in my life To choose my words most carefully Be the strong, silent type Be sensitive to all her needs And keep this thought in mind I know that I can either be Happy or right I’ve learned to say most everything to sway her favorably I always say, “Your dress looks great” “Your hair’s the perfect shade” I don’t complain of credit cards or less than perfect meals Two easy words that never fail are simply “yes, dear” I can mow the lawn, and change a tire And carry heavy things Investigate a noise at night But never win a fight As the father of a teenage boy, I try to do my best To teach him about manners And using common sense And when it comes to women, I share my philosophy Just agree respectfully and you’ll make out okay
