Story behind the song
My favorite song of all time was "Going to California." I lived in Minnesota at the time, and after the Chris Cornell comparison, this seemed like a good place to go. The main riff alludes to the Zep song, but the end product is something a little different
Lyrics
v1 I'm just wearing a smile And singing a song I'm leaving this place Before too long I'm heading for the land of ice and snow There'll be shivers and shakes And cold to the bone And a slippery slope Just south of my nose Heading for the land of ice and snow c. Well I've done nothing to deserve this fate This day, this place, this strange sweet state Something in me needs it even I'm going to Minnesota smiling and singing v2 I look at my girl And my eyes grow wide I look in the mirror And I wonder why Who knows where the sun will choose to shine I breathe in the air And I savor the day And so far no one's asked me to pay Who knows where the sun will choose to shine Chorus v3. I'm here in the ice And I've taste some snow I got wind in my eyes And icicle toes Even here the sun still seems to shine (Think I might go inside) I'm sipping my wine As I sit by the fire And soon I forget Deep cold and dumb pride Everywhere the sun still seems to shine Chorus
