That gal of yours she’s just bad news;
One of these days she’s gonna up and leave you
Alone and cryin’ with those heartbroken lonesome blues.”
Well you know Mama she sure was right;
My baby walked out on me last night
And took all I had, even my shoes;
All she left me was these heartbroken lonesome blues.
She was my woman but I wasn’t her man,
That’s something I just couldn’t understand;
Lord knows I didn’t have a clue
About how bad I could feel with these heartbroken lonesome blues.
I gave her my money, I gave her my time,
She left after spending my last dime,
Now I have nothin’, nothin’ left to lose
Except for these mean old heartbroken lonesome blues.
I know I should have taken Mama’s advice,
And found me a woman that would treat me right,
A lover who would stay and always be true,
Someone who wouldn’t give me the heartbroken lonesome blues.
But now that it’s over and I’ve paid my dues;
I’ll go out and find me someone new,
Get me a sweet woman, one who loves me too,
Who’ll cure me of these heartbroken lonesome blues.
