Outlaw Country with a touch of Bluegrass and Southern Rock. Americana. Biker Music. It's a fresh, unique sound that is hard to fit into a catagory.
Patti Stevens' first CD, produced by legendary outlaw singer/songwriter Billy Don Burns, was released in the spring of 2006. The project is full of heartfelt honesty and emotion. Her style has strong undertones of the rebellious outlaws of the past and present. It is hard to tell fact from fiction as she weaves a vivid tale in every song, each one thought provoking, and bravely exposing a part of herself. Her stories of love and life and the journey in between will bring you to tears and laughter almost simutaniously. One of Patti's songs from the CD, a fun gospel tune with a twist titled Just In Case, recently won first place in the Indianapolis Songwriters Association contest and the song She Rides has been picked up by independent artist band Cabin Row. Her tribute to the Confederate flag, The X They Stole From Dixie has been very popular with-in the biker crowd and also Civil War buffs. "I'm a Civil War buff myself and I ride a Harley, " she says, "so most of my songs are a reflection of that." She came to Nashville to create a niche for herself and she has accomplished this. Many legendary songwriters in Nashville recognized her talent and offered guidance and support...all for the love of a song. Click on Nashville Knows, a song about her first experiences in Nashville and you will hear Billy Don Burns stepping in for the last chorus...(thanks, Billy!). If you are looking for a totally different, yet pure sound, check out her songs and watch for the CD release in january. And if you are and artist interested in performing any of her songs she would love to hear from you! (bio by Paulette LaFay...Music Row, Nashville, TN)

Story behind the song
This was motivated by the injustices and misunderstandings surrounding the Southern Confederate flag. Based on a true story.
Lyrics
The X They Stole From Dixie (c)2004 Patti Stevens/BMI) He’s on a lonely mission in a small Missouri town Haunted since the day the rebel flag was taken down The sunset stretched the shadows of the tombstones on the hill And they rose up like an army crying help us if you will Help us if you will Bring back the X they stole from Dixie It’s our heritage and history We fought long We fought hard Earned its right to fly If you take the X from Dixie You’re making Dixie Die This is not the first time he heard dead mean weep and moan The ghosts he met in Vietnam have followed him back home Just like the Southern soldiers here he doesn’t get much sleep They shouldn’t have to justify his right to rest in peace They need to rest in peace Bring back the X you stole from Dixie It’s our heritage and history They fought long They fought hard Earned its right to fly If you take the X from Dixie You’re making Dixie Die He takes the flag he brought and turns his high beams on With pure determination waves it all night long Bring back the X you stole from Dixie It’s our heritage and history They fought long They fought hard Earned its right to fly If you take the X from Dixie You’re making Dixie Die

Since I've been an Arkansas resident for 11 years now, this one touches home. It is definately a potential rocker.
