Story behind the song
The genesis of Ascend comes from a short-lived new beginning after a crossroads in my life. The song wasn't completed until 13 years later when a good friend asked me to play for her wedding. The verse theme was retooled at that time and this song was then used for their wedding. Believe it or not, this is one of 2 or 3 songs which actually had lyrics once upon a long, lost time ago.
