Lyrics
Goodnight to the last night blues, Goodnight to worn out shoes, Nobody said it was easy, But nobody said I'd lose. Goodnight to the man on the corner, Goodnight to the gals in black, Ain't got me a lousy quarter, But then I ain't a' comin' back. So it's a bus ride to the dust road, An' it's a one night's lust - get me home, One lost jerk an' his crossbow, Oh keep the daddy under control. Lost all my silver my mama saved to buy, Well tear my hair clean off, N' blind my painted eyes, If I could come so clean, Like the water in the well, Not lyin' on my back, With a carpenter from hell. So it's a goodnight to the dirty game, Goodbye to tom cat calls, they're all the same, Hey! You never knew my name, ain't no fame, Not even under curtain calls, No never once my name. © Maria Daines/Paul Killington 3.06.05

This track without any dought is the finest blues track I have had the pleasure to listen to. Great lyrics with a laid back have another drink and kick off the shoes feel. The vocals presented my Maria Daines with subtle blues tones and great varity and control of the story. Maria does more than sing the song she acts and lives the person the song is about. Stunning backings that do not overcrowd the vocals as so many tracks in the genre tend to do. Nice low key guitar backings by Paul Killington and fantastic production in bringing what I believe is the signiture tune of this great performer. Blues is very special in music terms and if anyone can perform blues as well as Maria Daines does on this track then they are well on the way to a successful career. Blues is the most difficult genre to write, produce and perform of any genre and if an artist can master the blues as well as Maria and Paul they can perform any genre. Well done and A must for any blues fan or collector of
