This is an anthem for the Christian who puts on the whole armor of Christ. Ephesians 6:10-18
Erudite: The student of Christ. Christian Rap, Holy Hip Hop, Urban Gospel, contemporary Psalmist, Jesus Christ music.
Story behind the song
Sometimes the world, even believers, tends to envision Christians as somehow timid and fearfull of life itself. This view is completely un biblical. In Fact, the bible tells us in over 75 different instances not to be afraid. Specifically in Matthew 10:28 Jesus tells us 28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
Notice that Jesus used the plural for people who can kill the body and cannot kill the soul, but he uses the singular for the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Why? Because there is only one who can do such a thing. That one is God. So as Christians we need to realize that we are able to tread this world with boldness and confidence fearing no threat of the enemy.
That is the spirit in which I've written this song. A confident, almost cocky anthem for the Christian Man or woman who knows his inheritance in Christ Jesus.
It's funny but I wrote this during a difficult time. I guess the Father was trying to use that time to encourage me, as well as those who hear the song in rough times.
Lyrics
No Matter what Satan tries to put in my path,
put on the whole armor of God and Just Stand Fast. (Eph 6:11, Eph 6:13)
Forget Teflon vests, or elbow pads,
with God's Armor I stand fast like a psychopath.
Without no kind of fear (Mt 10:28, Re 2:10), standing up to the blast,
looking dead in Satan's face with a smirk and a laugh, Hah!
Because of the peace that passes all understanding (Php 4:7),
got that old demon stammering like he was Ralph Cramden man!
Like Humna Humna I’m gonna run to my bag of tricks again,
This Christian’s standing up no matter what I pitch at him(Job 2:3)!
But Satan shouldn’t be surprised at how we represent.
The whole body of Christ (1Co 12:27) got backs that never bend,
or give in to sin, the girdle of truth gives us strength.
And the shield of faith makes it so we never flinch,
or give an inch (Mr 11:23), to the world it don’t make no sense (1Co 2:14).
Who should I fear, my God is omnipotent.(Psalms 84:8-12,Re 19:6)
-Chorus-
Satan steady be scheming to disturb my peace,
with principalities, powers, and various beasts (Eph 6:12).
And different tricks trying to lure me to sleep,
but God is glorious so I’m not scared in the least.
Trying to bring up my sins (Re 12:10), but God buried them deep,
from the West God left them all there in the East (Psalms 103:6-18).
So, I rock righteousness as a breastplate (Isa 59:17, Eph 6:14, Php 3:9),
so when Satan tries to penetrate this shield of faith (Eph 6:16, Heb 11:1).
He can’t make these knees quake or make me break.
I stand straight in faith, there ain’t no debate.
See he’s defeated soon to meet the Fiery Lake (Re 20:10),
Cause Jesus took the keys to Hell and slaughtered The Snake (Hebrews 2:14-18).
Imagine me brought low by a defeated Foe (1Jo 5:18).
Jesus left him on the ground bleeding, breathing slow,
trying to heave and ho, like he don’t even know.
I stand fast cause my God is believable, Yo!
-Chorus-
Christ are me shield and me buckler,
when the enemy doh flood in him a raise up a structure,
a standard what no man dem can’t puncture,
dem can’t shake nor rattle no man what Christ doh cover.
So me can’t cower when satan want devour,
because me know Christ, de man him have all power.
me ain’t even self know why satan him wan test,
like he aint self know Jehovah God are Matchless,
Unless him just like to see I man stress.
I stand fast in Christ, aint deh in that nonsense!
And we ain’t never got to worry bout what part he deh,
because he deh, inside of we.
No matter how much dem want talk about we,
we stand fast in the word of God staunchly.
Swinging the sword of the spirit like machete,
at tan tan, bram bram, me son make way!!!
