R&B/Pop recording artist Tyan, 23, is from Louisville, KY. Singing since the age of two years old, Tamika Tian Skaggs A.K.A. Tyan was born with many gifts and talents and she has never been one to keep them to herself. She has a great vision and is more than determined to fulfill her dreams while sharing her gifts with the world. With a soulful voice and an R &B/ Pop edge, Tyan is a force to be reckoned with. Although Tyan has much experience in singing, she is also songwriter, actress, dancer/choreographer, and a keyboardist. First known for her own soulful rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” all over Louisville, Tyan was crowned the "Kentuckiana Idol" in the “Kentuckiana Idol” singing contest held in Louisville in 2003. That opened the door for her to open up for National Recording Artist, Howard Hewitt in Cincinnati, OH. Since then, Tyan has been blessed with many opportunities. She has worked with the Gospel/Hip Hop group V.O.I.C.E (who opened up for the Bow Wow “Wanted” Tour in Louisville, KY) and many other singing engagements. Playing a broad range of characters, Tyan has also been in several local gospel stage plays and the opportunity to be a wedding guest in Tyler Perry’s latest movie “Madea’s Family Reunion” (Lions Gate Films). She is currently touring in the gospel stage play “Bad Company" (a CIA Production), where she plays a soon to be married “Silvia” who gets held up by two robbers in her own church in the 1970s. In the play “Somebody Prayed For Me” (a CIA Production), Tyan plays a 13-year-old “Shirley” who is envious of her talented sister “Anna”. In "When Faith Speaks" (a RaizethePraize Production), Tyan plays “Lisa Calloway”, the Praise Team Leader who is in love with the Pastor of the church; singing a self-written song specifically for this production, this play becomes an unforgettable experience. Traveling all over the country and spreading positive messages through her talents is exactly what Tyan has always hoped for and plans to achieve.
