To take a certain style of music, add other unexpected elements, along with divine inspiration, and end up with a totally new genre of music, hence “switching the beat”. 2. In other words, to take back what the enemy stole from us and using it for God’s glory. Beat Switch Productions was created by its founder and executive producer, James Aaron Foster in 2002. A seasoned vocalist born into a profoundly musical family, James was destined to delve into the world of music production. Having been raised by both parents in such music styles as 70s soul, jazz standards, and neo-fusion, and being trained in popular and classical piano, opera, jazz, and gospel composition and voice throughout high school and college, James’ unique production style clearly began to take form and encompass a wide variety of musical genres. Taking on the moniker of Beat Switch, James forged into creating a name for himself aside from being strictly a vocalist but a producer as well. Under a previous production company, he’d already completed work for several artists including his mother, contemporary Christian vocalist, Joy! (Praise Him, 2000), pop singer Anthony Taccetta, rap duo Dubble Up, as well as himself with his first single released in 2000. Since then, Beat Switch has collaborated with over 25 artists over the past 3 years ranging from full gospel projects (his debut album as A-natural) to mainstream R&B/Hip Hop (singer Chanj of Ruff Nation Records, rap artists Shalaw of Playas 4 Life Records, and Inspectah Deck of the infamous Wu-Tang Clan) and some of today’s biggest pop stars (Britney Spears and Destiny’s Child). Most recently, Beat Switch has put his full energy into getting the gospel of Jesus Christ out to the masses by working very closely with a roster of talented and anointed gospel artists: pop Christian singer Jazmin Miranda, rappers XL and Al Hunter (formerly rap duo LIFE), gospel singer Monifa, hip-rock artist and worship leader Christofire, and again as A-natural with his second gospel release. Each of the artists on this roster is an active member of their respective churches and share a common goal in spreading the word of God and their acceptance of the responsibilities they have as ministers of the gospel. The music produced for these artists, wrapped in prayer, and performed under God’s direction has already created a resonant buzz around the tri-state area. Moreover, these artists, as well as the company itself, presently have a following that virtually spans the country, stretching from the New York/New Jersey area to Florida to the Midwest to California. Because of the widespread demand of these artists, a combining of these talents was necessary. This birthed the release of the first ever Beat Switch compilation CD entitled The Ambush Mixtape. Consisting of 16 tracks from all of the artists currently involved with Beat Switch, this project is just an appetizer to the dynamic solo endeavors each artist is embarking upon. Beat Switch and his artists are destined to play a large role in the next move of God reminding all that will listen that it’s time for us to take back what the enemy stole from us and finally switch it back to the goodness that God ordained it to be. With the company’s roster of artists growing rapidly, events being scheduled consistently, and the release of The Ambush and future projects to come, Beat Switch Productions is destined to play a large role in the next move of God as well as be a catalyst to the inevitable, positive change to the music industry.
