Afrobeat
The Wonderland Orchestra is a twelve-piece Afrobeat band established in 2001. Our music is the reflection of the Social, Political and Psychological climate of the world. Wonderland is the voice of people that exist and need to be heard. Music is a weapon and Afrobeat is our choice of weapon. Real success is measured by sending a substantial musical message that embodies meaning, truth, as well as providing entertainment. The Wonderland Orchestra is for all seasons, reflecting on life and culture in all its diversity. The music contains a wide variety of musical styles and African expressions, focusing on the present state of the world, and also looking at the past from a fresh perspective. Wonderland is the product of the biggest, baddest and blackest city in Africa: Lagos. Even though Afrobeat is spreading like wildfire, there is still a big void in what the music stands for.
Wonderland Orchestra is about freedom. Freedom for all: citizen or nation, parent or child, worker or rebel. Afrobeat music is resilience against oppression, humor amidst pain and dance during struggle. Mother Africa has exported her philosophy of grace and style through great music. Afrobeat conquers forces of hate, intolerance, and social ignorance. The NEW Generation of Afrobeat is comprised of those who are too smart to be fooled by insincere dogma, too strong to be denied economic freedom and not too sexy to party to good music!! We are the intellects that know democracy from hypocrisy, ideas from rhetoric and how set the roof on fire! Come out, listen, learn a little and most of all enjoy good music. Peace.
OYA OYA OYA OYA OYA!! Do it!!
