Story behind the song
I love this song. We were looking to write something that would fit any age. We all look back and remember that special person who taught us about love.
Lyrics
ALIVE
L. Torres/A. Albriton
The bonfire fought back the dark
I was getting lost inside his arms
I knew my curfew was catchin’ up with me.
When his breath touched my neck
It made time easy to forget
As hard as I tried
I just couldn’t leave that night
I knew my parents were scared to death
And so was I as he pressed his lips against mine
Oh I never felt more alive.
Wrong felt so right
The smell of smoke was in my hair
And I was lying there I cried.
Not because I was sad
It had to do with breathin’ in new life
I was alive.
We walked the path back to his car
And as I felt that engine start
Right then, that’s when
I knew I’d never be the same.
As we drove under the lights of my street
That’s when I started to think
About every excuse
That I was about to use
But my parents were asleep
And I was afraid
Those hinges would give me away
But as I crawled into bed that night,
I was alive.
Wrong felt so right
The smell of smoke was in my hair
And I was lying there, I cried.
Not because I was sad
It had to do with breathin’ in new life
I was alive.
The other day driving in my car
I smelled a field burnin’ and it sparked
My memory of him and me and that night
