My first real appreciation for music hit me the first time I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. The emotion and enthusiasm of the audience on that small black and white screen was a real eye opener for me. I began writing songs a few years later as a teenager and decided to teach myself to play guitar. What better way to impress girls, right? As I matured as a writer it was my love for a good story song that morphed me into a country songwriter. I enjoy reading articles about other songwriters, and one of my biggest influences was a Johnny Cash quote that said he used the "KISS" method of writing. An acronym for "Keep It Simple Stupid", and I thought that sounded pretty easy. Was I ever WRONG! I have learned that creating a song that comes across as conversational and uncomplicated was not as easy as it sounded. After several years of writing, and many stacks of spiral bound notebooks, I slowly turned into a better writer as I learned to draw from life's experiences. My dad was a career military man, and I was born on an Army base in Augusta, Georgia. Growing up I spent summers on my grandparents farm in Louisiana, and so I am forever filled with a deep love for the south. My family and I live in the Flint Hills of Kansas. This site contains a portion of my catalog which is pitched daily in Nashville. Lyrics
CHORUS Heart, we gotta’ problem, I think you've gone n’ fallen in love You used to be so content - thought you had enough You sure like everything she does - and she does it - oh so much Heart, we gotta’ problem, I think you've fallen in love I’m given up my Friday nights - my weekends for that matter And pickin’ up after myself - and these days I’d rather Check out the sales down at the mall, watch sad movies instead of football Strange things I’ve never done at all I think you've fallen in love CHORUS (Repeat) I’m thinkin’ ‘bout tradin’ in - my old pickup truck And yard salein' other stuff - so I can give her anything - but up I’m startin’ to like most of her friends - cappucino and supper at ten It’s startin' to make good sense I think you've fallen in love BRIDGE Well the caps back on the toothpaste, I even put down the toilet seat I shave everyday - and my friends say - she's even tamed a few of my beasts I’m wearin’ ties - I can’t disguise she's what I’m thinkin’ of Heart, we gotta’ problem - guess we’ve fallen in love CHORUS Heart, we’ve gotta’ problem, I think we've gone and fallen in love” We used to be so content - thought we’d had enough We sure like everything she does - and she does it - oh so much Heart, we gotta problem - I think we've fallin' in love TAG But, Heart, it's notta' problem - I kinda’ like bein' in love
