Eternya nace en el verano del 2003, de la mano del batería Sergio González y el guitarrista Julián Janovich, quienes buscaban explorar nuevas tendencias arraiga
ETERNYA was founded in summer of 2003 by drummer Sergio González and guitarist Julián Janovich, who where seeking to explore new musical terrains based on a classic thrash metal sound. First singer of the band became Lourdes Royo, whose melodical and versatile vocal style was a perfect complement to the heavy instumentation provided by the guitar and drums.
During the first few months, they had difficulties to find a keyboarder and bass player who fit musically with the ideas of the group. Finally they met Bernat Freixes, a keyboarder based in the pop music of the 80s and 90s who shared the goal of reaching for new musical horizons, joining beautiful pop melodies to the aggressive metal sounds.
Together with a session bass player, a friend of the band, they played their first gig in a historical Barcelona bar, "el Tricker", eager to know how their music would be received by the public.
The first concert being a full success, ETERNYA decided to start working harder and installed a little recording studio in their practice room. The following two months they spent recording their first demo, which was released in fall 2004 and included the following songs: Neverland, I'll Be There, Somewhere In This Night and Papa Don't Preach by Madonna.
At this point the band had already passed more than a year together and they were starting to get known around the world as they had made some of their songs available for download at the web portal www.soundclick.com. They started to receive supporting emails from all over the world, which contributed hugely to their motivation to continue pursuing the musical career.
After finishing the demo, the hard work bore fruit and two new musicians joined the band, bassist Carles Ceacero and guitarist Alex García. With this constellation, the band finally suceeded in creating the type of sound that they had been looking for all the time and which should become characteristic for ETERNYA.
They started to play more and more concerts and in the middle of this, another change took place as Lourdes left the band. Luckily she could quickly be replaced by Esther Justel, ex-singer of the band STIGMA, who together with backing vocalist Laura Tutusaus now forms the double female vocals which made Eternya increasingly popular as they played more and more shows in and around Barcelona.
Yet more changes occur in spring 2005, as Bernat and Carles leave the band and are replaced by Alba Nerín (keyboard), who has a classical background, and Sebastian Rehmann (bass), who had before been playing in various rock and metal bands in Germany. This being the final line-up, Eternya are currently busy writing new songs and recording their first full-length album which is scheduled to be released in early fall 2005. The band are also planning to keep playing live regularly during the process to present the new line-up to the public.
Strengthened by the support from their fans, ETERNYA is now more eager than ever to give it all, firmly convinced that even if against all expectations the group should one day vanish into oblivion, the effort will have been worthwhile nonetheless.
