Story behind the song
My sister married at 14 and her husband was 24. He was the sweetest, unassuming, man who loved her dearly. But he was very simple and had a third grade education. He made a very good living as a plumber in the Atlanta area. When she left him, he spent a lot of time in a mental institution. When he was better he went to stay with his sister. On New Years Day, he sat down to a wonderful dinner, ate verociously, went to his room and shot himself in the heart. He was born, raised, and buried in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

Chorus:
Pine Mountain’s calling
As his soul’s still walking
Trying to understand what went wrong
Why the love of his life is gone
They married when she was just a child
He loved her innocence, she loved his charm
Though he was slow, he loved her with his soul
and vowed to keep her safe and warm
She grew into a beautiful young woman
And turned his simple world upside down
Cause the world was calling, and she was falling
For excitement and the bright lights of town
Chorus:
Pine Mountain’s calling
As his soul’s still walking
Trying to understand what went wrong
Why the love of his life is gone
When she left him he tried his best
But liquor couldn't calm his unrest
After New Year’s Dinner, he pulled the trigger
And stopped the throbbing inside his chest
Chorus: 2X
Pine Mountain’s calling
As his soul’s still walking
Trying to understand what went wrong
Why the love of his life is gone
Why the love of his life is gone
