Story behind the song
I wanted to write a song that spoke about the resurrecton from a different perspective. We weren't there when it happened but in a way we were. What happened at the cross happened for each of us alive today.
Lyrics
VERSE Imagine a time and place Not so long ago When the Father sent His only Son To save us. But when He reached out His arms We nailed Him to a tree And sacrificed the Lamb of God For all eternity. (setup) But the grace of God was stronger Than the weight of all our sin And the angel at the tomb that day Said Jesus lives again… CHORUS (cause) He arose (Lead echos) From the grave (oh, from the grave) The battle won (the battle won) The debt was paid. (the debt was paid) The lost were found (the lost were found) The slave set free (every slave set free) When He arose (He arose) For one like me. (for one like me) VERSE I’m like the prodigal So very far from home I’m scared by the memories Of things that I have known. But Jesus is not afraid He knows everywhere I’ve been And He’s standing there At Heaven’s door Where He waits to take us in. (setup) And the grace of God is stronger Than the weight of all my sin I’m reminded everyday That Jesus lives again… CHORUS BRIDGE Jesus paid the price that day On the cross at Calvary. And through His love He reached out Just to save a wretch like me… CHORUS (cause) He arose From the grave The battle won The debt was paid. The lost were found The slave set free When He arose For one like me. Oh, He arose For one like me. Yes, He arose He arose for you and me.
