Story behind the song
Winnemucca, Neveda is a little truck stop type of a town where we always stop off on long road trips. The last couple times it's been raining so I thought it would be neat to capture in a song. Mixed with a personal situation with a girl who was always questioning whether or not our relationship was right because we went through some tough times together. The song is basically me trying to convince her to stay and see the rainbow that will come as a result of the rain.
Lyrics
She's driving down a rainbow
Pot of gold in hand
Her arm flies out the window
And dances with the wind
She stares out her windshield
Directly at the sun
Cause she don't need no roadmap
she don't yield to anyone
And my baby's coming home
But she'll get caught in the storm
And when that rain is beating down
she can't be found, so she turns around
But what's a little rain?
What's a little pain?
Cause did you see that green grow?
Did you watch that rainbow?
What's a little hurt?
Why don't you plant it in your dirt?
It'll make your flowers bloom
It'll make your heart true
Just please don't go, you're only halfway home
It's raining in Winnemucca
So she'll stop there
Button up her raincoat
Throw the flower from her hair
And she'll wonder what she's doing
In that old desert town
She'll get back in her car
And turn her life around
The rain poors in Winnemucca
But each drop just says "I love you"
But she cannot bare the sound
Or that desert town, so she turns around
But what's a little rain?
What's a little pain?
Did you see that green?
Did you watch that rainbow?
What's a little hurt?
Why don't you plant it in your dirt?
It'll make your flowers bloom
It'll make your heart true
So please don't go, you're just halfway home
Rain, Rain, Rain, won't you go away?
Come again another day
Rain, Rain, Rain, won't you go away?
and come again another day
