"Excuse me, I might rub some people wrong..."
Progressive Alternative Country Rock from Deep in the Heart of Texas.
is a place where the sign reads, "No Boots Required".
Story behind the song
Watching and reading the news is what sprarked this one. I thought it'd be a good "Theme Song" for John Kerry. I've seen a lot of businesses go by the way side and family, friends struggling. This metropalitain city I live in is like a ghost town in a lot of areas. Somebody has got to say or do something. So I said something.
Lyrics
IT'S A SAD DAY
Excuse me, I might rub some people wrong
When my purpose is to find how we all can get along
I'm laid off and no one wants to see
How I got here, so, poor poor pitiful me...
( It's a sad day )
I see my city ever expanding
My years of knowledge never more demanding
Still, here I sit, 'cuz, I ask for what I'm worth
The bargining table buckles under the weight of my birth
How dare I ask for what's due to me
When some will work for basically free
Classroom knowledge, hands on experience
No longer guarantees...
It's a sad day...
When those who wanna work, don't get to work
It's a sad day...
When those who wanna work, don't get to work
You've heard the slogan, be all you can be
After the war returned to the factory
401k taking care of his own
Was to last him, 'til he's dead and gone
Here he sits trying to figure it out
A resume, his talents displayed
No social aid, the American Dream slips away
His spirit breaks...
-Chorus-
-interlude-
If I'm ever blessed with an opportunity
To better serve this land of the free
I hope I can find a way
To take of those at home with fair and equal pay
-Chorus 2x-
You can't take it with you when you die
And only need so much to maintain a life
That is the goal in which we should strive
It's the only way our economy will survive
