When the one you love does you wrong, which is easier...staying and living with the heartache or, leaving and saying goodbye? As the song says, 'It's the cruelest kind of torture'.

For over 40 years I played lead guitar and did back-up vocals in various country bands. It has been one of the greatest thrills of my life. But, these days I stay at home and compose songs, both lyrics and music. My writing style is much broader than just country music. I also write southern rock, a little blues, lots of smooth jazz and movie themes and even some latin music. I have been writing for about 20 years and hope to for quite a few more years.

Lyrics
Heartache Or Goodbye (v1) Finding you in another’s arms Guess I’ll never understand Thought everything was perfect Just like we had planned (v2) Don’t tell me how it happened Cause I just don’t want to hear My heart’s already shattered And I’ve cried out all my tears (Chorus) It’s a choice I have to make But how do I decide Living with a heartache Or telling you good-bye Either way I pay the price For a hurt I didn’t buy Living with a heartache Or telling you good-bye (v3) How can I forgive you When you’ve caused me so much hurt But if I decide to leave you Will that only make it worse (v4) It’s the cruelest kind of torture Because I just don’t know My heart begs me to stay While my mind tells me to go Repeat Chorus © Alan D.
