Contemporary music with a message...
The beginning of this work goes back to the late '90s. Although a believer since 1983, I had allowed sin to once again rule my life with devastating results. Having come to my senses, I fell on my face and sincerely asked God to give me one more chance to be the man that He wanted me to be. God heard my prayer and began doing a serious work inside of me, one that I was finally willing to let Him do. Today I am a substantially different man, one who has begun to learn the value of abiding in Christ every day. To know Jesus Christ and to live openly and honestly before Him and other men is the focus of my life now. I hope that these songs somehow express that. It is my prayer that they will bring blessing, encouragement and healing to others like myself who love the Lord and are still in the battle against personal sin. We have a great Savior and He makes us... Free Indeed! God bless... Dale J. Mayer and , two great places to spend some time.

Story behind the song
“They made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child” Lk2:17 NKJV Although it seems appropriate as a seasonal song, this song did not begin that way. I had a simple refrain in my head: "Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice... Again I say rejoice" as Paul said to the Phillipians. As I prayed and asked the Lord where this song was going, I began thinking about the proclamation of the angels to the shepherds regarding the birth of the Savior. The song unfolded from there. In his own words, one of the shepherds relates how Christ has changed his life. May He change yours as well. God bless... Dale
Lyrics
Verse 1 I’m a simple man,... only a shepherd; And there’s a god in heaven,... at least that’s what I’ve heard. I lead a simple life,... a wife and children; They look to me… for their every need. I watch over my sheep. They are safe in my keep. But who’s watching me?… I really don’t see. What’s it all about? Where am I going? I’m still in the dark when I should be knowing. I look up and stare. Is anyone there? Or doesn’t he care? Why’s there so much pain, heartache and sorrow? How can I go on? I can't face tomorrow. I turn to the sky. I want to know why. Do you hear my cry? Then the angel said... Chorus Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy. You don’t have to be afraid anymore. For unto you is born this day in the city of the king, A Savior, Christ the Lord. Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! Again, I say… Rejoice! The God you’ve only heard about has come to you today... Jesus, Christ the Lord! Verse 2 He’s a simple man,... now He’s my shepherd; Sent from God in heaven,... His Word to be heard. He gives my life… purpose and meaning; In Him I see… everything that I need. Now I’m one of His sheep and I’m safe in His keep… He’s watching me. I just want you to see... What it’s all about. But, where are you going? You’re still in the dark when you could be knowing. Don’t give up in despair. God really is there. And He really does care. You have so much pain, heartache and sorrow. You just can’t go on. You can’t face tomorrow. Let me show you the way. You can trust Him today. Please hear what I say… The angel said... Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! Again, I say… Rejoice! The God you’ve only heard about has come to you today... Jesus, Christ the Lord! Jesus, Christ the Lord! And you shall call His name Emmanuel... God is with us.
