Glen Heffner is a keyboardist/composer who specializes in instrumental music based around melody/counter melody and rhythmic counterpoint. All instruments are
Music... My entire life, music has been the "driving force" in everything that I've done. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 6, played in bands all through high school, graduated with a degree in piano from college, and all the while learned as much as I could about the recording studio by working as a session musician and learning the art of recording. To me, music can be visualized by colors. Every sound that you hear has a particular color attached to it and likewise, so does every emotion. That's what I'm attempting to capture in my music. I want to take emotions that are a part of one's natural life and "paint" a picture into my musical landscapes. Before I write a song, I name it. That name is a "hint" as to what I was thinking of. Then the sounds that I used, the melody, the counter-melodies, rhythms, etc. are all part of the final scene. I hope you enjoy my attempts at capturing an emotion for a moment in time....

Story behind the song
While on vacation in Cancun a few years ago, I was sitting on the beach when a "local" came by selling seashells. He told me that they were special, so I asked him why. He grinned and told me that they came from a Secret Reef that only a few people know of. I told him that I didn't think that Sea Shells or anything for that matter should be taken from a reef, at which point, he grinned and said "Senor, the Secret Reefs are only in our minds". I pondered it a bit, then I purchased a few only because he let me in on his secret. I also suggested that he not use the Secret Reef sales pitch to Americans. He smiled, thank me and moved on. The rest of the day, I kept thinking about what a Secret Reef would look like, thus the beginning of this song....
