The Rock Side of the Maximum RNR debut 7"
punk rock and roll garage
Artist picture
Fast, loud 'n' dirty kick-ass punk rock and roll.
Stumbling out of Toronto under the moniker Maximum RNB, it quickly became apparent that the quintet had outrocked its own name. By playing hardcore infused punk rock 'n' roll rather than silky smooth soul, the group confused "new R&B" fans and promoters alike. By 2002, while recording the tracks for their debut series of 7 inch vinyl records under the auspices of producer Ian Blurton (Dayglo Abortions, Cursed, Tricky Woo), the band decided to state the obvious (rather than a surprisingly obscure Who reference) and rename themselves Maximum RNR. Of course, this put them in potential conflict with The Punk Rock Bible which had been using a somewhat similar name for 2 decades plus. However, considering the years of reading and cultural conditioning that magazine provided certain members of the band, the reference seemed appropriate AND ostentatious. With the main goal of living up to its namesake via live performances, the collective has sweated onto over 250 stages/floors/lawns with 4 mainland Canada tours, a 2007 European tour and innumerable Ontario and Quebec gigs. Feeling the need to maintain a consistent physical recorded presence, Maximum RNR has self-released the Blurton productions onto two 7 inch vinyl singles, two 6 song CDs, been on 7 compilation CDs and have had a 7 inch released by Philadelphia-based Relapse Records

Lyrics
Write a truth in your hand, take a dive in the pool See the ink dissolve, another kick in the teeth for the path of resolve. There ain't no truth there ain't no lie, just the anger inside Trop prière dans le noir, trop couteau dans la plaie La peur immobilise, la vie s'immobilise, bientôt la grande fanfare des regrets Ou bien l'on risque ou bien l'on dors, faut pas tirer au sort The string that pulls us forward, can be a whip that snaps Tie me down, tie me down, tie me down, freedom belongs to those who adapt I want the want I need the need so rack up the sum This world needs a stab, switchblade knoife this life For every life there's a war, for every war there are sides Pick and choose, set the bounds and find yourself nailed to the ground There ain't no truth there ain't no lie, just the anger inside This world needs a stab, switchblade knoife this life Start again, start again (2) All the books and the knowledge that stacks yeah (3) A forward motion side swipes you.
