Story behind the song
The listener will initially experience an original composition that was created with the sole instrument of the acoustic guitar. All synthetic textures, such as echo and delay, are created through the computerized manipulation of sound in particular geometrical room constructions as well as through successive layering. During the recording process, a general idea of the direction of the musical composition was understood, but all individual notes are purely a product of improvisation, very much like the case with many jazz songs. The song has two purposes. First, and foremost, it is intended to create a musical atmosphere that is a crossover between ambient noise and “music” in the traditional sense. Second of all since the very method of composition involves a computer program based on mathematical processes (i.e. normalization) altering the sound of an acoustic (non-electronic) instrument, the method of composition behind the song can be extended to the general theme of mathematical involvement in altering our perception of the natural world.
