Christ centered songs written by Dan Simmons...the best Gospel and inspirational A.I. music on the internet!
"firesong" is the songwriting ministry of Dan Simmons Thanks for stopping by. It's my desire to faithfully share that which has been given to me. This website will be a sampling of recordings that I, along with family and friends, have done over past 45 years. There are over 600 original unpublished songs presented in demo form on this site. Special thanks go to my partners in music, my daughter Amber, son Ian and the guys of Single Heart (Gene, Bob, Chris, Marty and Tata) who joined me to sing praises to the Lord down through the years. I also wish to thank those co-writers and artists that have joined with me in developing new music the passed few years to share on this website. I'm now featuring AI (Artificial Intelligence) groups that I've developed to sing some of the songs. I hope it's evident to everyone... that though the melodies and harmonies, styles and singers may change... JESUS has always been and will always be...the Song! ...this music is one simple expression of a very thankful heart. (Dan is a retired firefighter and ordained minister)

Story behind the song
This is a modern adaptation of Robert Lowery's classic resurrection day hymn "Christ Arose" written in 1874 (his lyrics are now in the Public Domain)...the melody is entirely different but I wanted to capture its power in a contemporary format.
Lyrics
Low in the grave He lay...Jesus my Savior Waiting the coming day...Jesus my Lord And vainly they watched His bed...Jesus my Savior Vainly they sealed the dead...Jesus my Lord (chorus) Then He arose the Victor...He arose the King And He lives forever where He rules and reigns He has taken captive the dark domain Hallelujah Christ arose! Death cannot keep its prey...Jesus my Savior He tore the bars away...Jesus my Lord (chorus) Then He arose the Victor...He arose the King And He lives forever where He rules and reigns He has taken captive the dark domain Hallelujah Christ arose! (bridge) Death's power to hold us has been shattered If we rise with Him on this resurrection day Up from the grave with a mighty triumph o'er His foes He arose the Victor from the dark domain And He lives forever with the saints to reign He is risen! (chorus) Yes He arose the Victor...He arose the King And He lives forever where He rules and reigns He has taken captive the dark domain Hallelujah Christ arose! Hallelujah Christ arose! Hallelujah Christ arose!

I love this song--powerful words, of course, best musical tune and great vocals. I can just see and hear David Phelps singing this song!
