As accurate a re-creation of Eddie Cochran's hit song as I can manage. Lots of vocals and as with the original, a quite sparse arrangement. ...snare drum, 2 rhythm guitars and bass guitar. 2 lead vocals and 4 backing vocals.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Three Steps to Heaven was the final single released by Eddie Cochran before his untimely death by car accident in 1960. The single posthumously became a #1 hit in the UK. I was 8 years old in 1960 when this was released. My eldest brother is 9 years older than me, and was a bit of a Rock 'n Roller back then...not quite a Teddy Boy, but I do remember him liking this kind of thing. The BBC radio 'Light Service' sometimes played songs like this. It's one of those songs that you just can't help but love. I do. My friend and musical mentor, Jesus Oldman encouraged me to strive for perfection in my recordings. Thankyou JO. I think I have done with this one. So, as a thankyou to him, I have added a sample of his 'studio chatter', in the space at the beginning and at the very end. I hope you all enjoy this wonderful piece of musical nostalgia.
Lyrics
Three Steps To Heaven (c)1960 Eddie Cochran Now there are three steps to heaven Just listen and you will plainly see And as life travels on And things do go wrong Just follow steps one, two and three Step one, you find a girl to love Step two, she falls in love with you Step three, you kiss and hold her tightly Yeah, that sure seems like heaven to me The formula for heaven's very simple Just follow the rules and you will see And as life travels on And things do go wrong Just follow steps one, two and three Step one, you find a girl to love Step two, she falls in love with you Step three, you kiss and hold her tightly Yeah, that sure seems like heaven to me Just follow steps one, two and three

Great cover of a classic. Good work on the vocals. I think mud covered this way back 70’s or 80’s and was played extensively.

Great version of this Rock n roll classic . You gotta love the simplicity of rock n roll ! Us oldies probably all started playing rock n roll at the beginning of our musical journey. Great guitar and vocals David !

Neato Burrito IndeedO. I'd never heard this song before, amazingly. So I went to youtube and found the one Eddie did, and now I'm listening to yours again. I'm absolutely sure Eddie is up there listening to this, and loving it as much as I do. Well done!
